Using photos of many Egyptian statues as reference I sketched this design.
I built the base mesh in Maya, and then sculpted the details in ZBrush.
A computer controlled router carved the statue out of foam. It is pictured working on one of our other statues.
The pieces of foam were assembled in our shop. The statue is 19 feet tall and weighed only 90 pounds at this stage.
The statue is sprayed with a protective coating which makes the surface very hard.
